THE HUNT

An action-adventure set against the backdrop of a Hollywood thriller, or Sherlock Holmes meets Uncharted in 1980s America.

Intention : Immersion in a fictitious American universe of the 80's, where action mingles with features of deduction at a frenetic rhythm and full of twists and turns.

Main tasks :

   - Production of a complex documentation HCD (high concept document)

   - Creation of an associated feature design document

   - Layout and creation of thematic visuals for the documentation (Photoshop)

   - Creation of a prototype in Unity (basic features: displacement, shooting view, narrative)

MY WORK

Worldbuilding
&
Character Sheets

In creating the woldbuilding, I began with a broad historical research phase : first centered on the United States, then focusing on the city of Seattle.

As the research progressed, I began to nurture the following idea: imagine an America that had lost the Cold War, and the transformations it might have undergone..

In creating the characters, I had to take a close look at the Mafia hierarchical system, to give credibility to the different characters and their interactions with each other.

I also had to set up two-faceted characters, and put forward strong, ambitious female characters (in contrast to the way they're treated in James Bond-type action films).

Story Structure

I read up on the dramaturgical structures of thrillers. To be able to balance the mix of suspense and action in the narrative

First, I created the characters and their backgrounds, all coming from very different horizons, and then integrated them by alliance to give a more organic coherence to the whole.

I supplemented the concept documentation with a structure map to clarify the 5-act plot. I then added an intensity curve detailing the narrative rhythm.

Learning the structure of a thriller.

Use of Notion to centralize and organize links between characters and various worldbuilding investigations.

Documentation :

  • Write a thematic introductory scene, then a summary of the entire plot (screenplay type).

  • More complex and detailed character sheets.

  • Organize research and create more complex moodboards.
